
Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) is important for higher education institutions, as it protects the Intellectual Property (IP) of stakeholders created through research and development. As the protection of the intellectual property is an important issue nowadays. Intellectual property may be any creation of the human mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce; for which a set of exclusive rights like copyrights, trademarks, patents, industrial design rights, and trade secrets are recognized under the corresponding fields of law. And the scope of IPR is not just limited to science and technology but all also extends towards: – Humanities, Commerce and Management, and Interdisciplinary Studies. In view of this and considering the importance of formally protecting the intellectual property of the teachers, staff and students, the institution has initiated to established IPR cell.
Vidyavardhaka First Grade College has set up VVFGC – KSCST IPR Cell in collaboration with Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology in 2023 and signed the MOU for the same on 21 March 2024.
Objectives of IPR Cell:
- To create an awareness about IPR for faculties and students of the institution.
- To conduct workshops, seminars and training course on IPR.
- To encourage faculty members and scholars to go for patentable works.
- To create awareness about the importance of IPRs as a marketable financial asset and economic tool among the researchers, faculty and students of the College.
- To create awareness and offer assistance to academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators to identify, protect and manage IPR.

IPR Activities:
- College had organised a one day national level conference on the topic of “Intellectual Property Rights in Digital Era: Issues and Challenges” on 25th of November 2023.
- College has signed an MOU with Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology on 21 March 2024.
- An alumni made a requisition for Startup of ” CUCU Maters ” through our IPR Cell on 15th May 2024 which under Prior Art
